Performance Based Fascial Stretch Therapy at The Holistic Move is a cheat code to return stronger to your sport

Hey, I’m Tim Wong

I’ve been treating the injuries and aches and pains of Toronto’s athletes and performers for the last 10 years.

I’ve helped hundreds of Torontonians achieve personal bests, win at their sport and achieve long term health.

But it wasn’t always like that, I’ve been through my share of injuries and went to many therapists with no relief.

I went through it all:

The Blame game
The costly and time wasting treatments
The lack of results and a poor experience

I wanted to throw in the towel and stop my goals of competing at a high level in Weightlifting and Soccer

Maybe you can relate?

Let me help you fast track your road to recovery.
I use some of the best Massage Therapy techniques that I've learned over my life

Here’s how it works:

Stage 1:
Find the Real Cause of your issue

I’ll take you through a comprehensive biomechanical and identify the source of your problem. Then I’ll explain the steps that’s needed to get you back on track towards reaching your fitness goals and doing the things you enjoy.

Stage 2:
Resolve your problem

I’ll develop a tailored strategic plan designed specifically to you and your goals. This plan will allow you to become more physically resilient, pain-free, and quickly get back to your favourite activity effectively and efficiently.

Stage 3:
Achieve Peak Performance

Once your issues are resolved and you are moving efficiently without any pain or discomfort, I will implement exercise and therapeutic strategies to help solidify our results and to avoid future relapses of your issue. Consider this our method of “bulletproofing” your body against future wear and tear in your sport and daily life.

4 Types of Fascial Stretch Therapy Treatments that we utilize at the Holistic Move

Active FST

The athlete is an active participant in the stretching process. The fascial stretch therapist applies resistance to the targeted surrounding area while the athlete actively moves the muscle through a range of motion. This technique can help to increase flexibility, connective tissue mobility, and range of motion, while also activating the targeted muscles.

Passive FST

The fascial stretch therapist applies tension to the targeted surrounding area while the athlete relaxes. This allows for a deeper stretch and can help to improve overall flexibility and fascia mobility. This technique is particularly useful for athletes who have limited mobility from stiff connective tissue or who have experienced a recent injury.

PNF

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) techniques are often used in conjunction with FST to help improve muscle strength and range of motion. This technique involves a combination of stretching and muscle activation, where the athlete contracts the targeted muscle while the therapist applies tension. This process is then followed by a period of relaxation and a deeper stretch.

Functional

The fascial stretch therapist works with the athlete to stretch the fascia in positions that mimic functional movements, such as squats or lunges. This technique can help to improve mobility and performance in specific activities, and is particularly useful for athletes or individuals who have specific goals or activities they want to improve.

Frequently Asked Questions

As an RMT, I will continue to offer high-quality therapeutic massage therapy treatments. In addition, with my additional education and training in functional neurology, I can offer patients an integrative approach that often has many longer-lasting benefits. Using a functional neurology-based therapy like P-DTR, we identify the movements that cause your symptoms, perform a specific treatment, retest the same movement after treatment, then provide you with the appropriate exercises for “homework” to solidify our results. Rest assured, I am also Certified and Licensed by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

I often hear from my patients that they have tried nearly everything to resolve their issues or meet their fitness goals. Since every case is unique, this is why I have an initial assessment appointment for first timer visitors. It allows me to understand the problem better, ask the proper questions, and recommend the best treatment for your needs.

FST enhances blood circulation to fatigued muscles, facilitating quicker recovery from intense training sessions and reducing muscle soreness. If you’re someone who exercises regularly, FST can aid in increasing your running speed, lifting capacity, endurance, coordination, and flexibility.

FST involves a sequence of movements designed to isolate and arrange the various layers of connective tissue encompassing the muscles, joints, organs, and bones. This therapy also utilizes breath techniques and traction to take joints through their pain-free ranges of motion.

NKT and P-DTR are two advanced treatments that focus on locating the root cause and correcting the functional imbalances within the body. Using precise manual muscle tests, an experienced therapist can quickly find the root of many dysfunctions that is causing your pain or discomfort and treating it.
